The results of the annual Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Review were announced yesterday and it is great to see 2 Australian companies amongst the top 19.

The ANZ banking group ranked as the leader for the Banking supersector. And General Property Trust Ltd (GPT Group) was the leader of the Real Estate supersector. Both companies far outscored the average for their sectors across the economic, environmental and social dimensions. GPT Group is shown to be a particularly strong leader across environmental and social aspects measured.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index tracks financial performance of leading sustainability – driven companies. The world’s 2,500 largest companies from the 58 sectors are invited to report on their sustainability performance over the year. The economic, environmental and social aspects of the companies are analysed and the top company in each of 19 supersectors is identified.
